When comparing chrome powders for a new collection, make the application process part of the buying brief.
A reference image gives your team a visual target. A documented application gives you a clearer basis for comparing samples—and deciding what to evaluate next.
Start with a small set of base colours that represents your planned range. For each candidate, record the products used, curing settings, application method and finishing steps. Follow the application guidance for the system being evaluated.
Keep the first comparison focused:
- Finish: How closely does the completed sample match your intended mirror appearance?
- Colour: Does the effect create the distinction you want across the selected base shades?
- Repeatability: How similar are samples made by different members of your team using the same documented process?
Photograph the finished tips under consistent lighting, then review them from several angles. Keep a labelled physical sample beside the images so your purchasing, development and marketing teams can discuss the same reference.
Before selecting a powder, assess its suitability in your actual base, application and top-coat system. Define any further performance testing around the requirements of the finished product.
At Yiwu Bojun Pigment, I help nail brands turn an intended finish into a focused pigment-sampling brief.
For your next chrome range, would a reference finish or a target colour list be the easier starting point?
